It Could Happen Here: I listen to this when I want to understand what the heck is happening in the States. The podcast describes itself as "a chronicle of collapse as it happens". Extremely online horrified young American journalists document it happening here.
Behind the Bastards: Same podcast network, a lot of the same faces as It Could Happen Here, similar history. Started out as a history pod about shitty historical figures, and has largely evolved into deep dives into the personalities, philosophies and family trauma driving this ongoing train wreck.
A Psychologist looks at Scripture: A short weekly podcast where my uncle, Dr. Peter Doherty, a psychologist and a Catholic priest, examines the upcoming Sunday's Gospel reading and draws connections between mental health, the human sciences and spirituality.
The Bible in a Year: It took me almost two years to complete this run through, where Fr. Mike Schmitz walks through the entire Catholic Bible in 365 episodes. This would be my second time successfully reading through the Bible. I have been curious about the bible ever since I was a kid, and read many ddifferent children's bibles and supplemental content like Olde Charlie Farquharson's Testament, but I wasn't able to make enough sense of it on my own to keep reading. My first successful attempt was by following the reading plan that came with The Extreme Teen Bible.
The Last Video Store: A delightful Australian podcast where people chat joyfully about favourite movies with an extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable host, who then makes a movie recommendation to the guest based on their discussion. I've come away with many great movie recomendations, including Microhabitat and Better Man (the one about Robbie Williams and he's a monkey).
Overdue: Two very good boys review and recap books. These guys are real podcast pros, and the show has a comforting structure. There's a huge back catalog to work through.
gibop: Movie commentary tracks, uploaded without comment. A wide variety of movies are covered. Updated frequently.
